In this challenge we race we drive the Dodge Challenger through twist, turns and the dust storms of the desert. Cops provide some amusement and excitement and they surround our speeding vehicle. My drifting skills are again tested as we see if I have improved any since the closure of the NFS the Run main story mode. A finishing last rival race, shows that speed is not everything.

Players can unlock many events within the Challenge Series by completing different stages within the Story/Career Mode. Each section in the Challenge Series contains a series of events that are based off courses, events, circumstances and obstacles that happened within the Story/Career Mode. Players are also awarded medals based on their performance within each of the Challenge Series events.

The newest, and 18th installment in the long-running arcade racing franchise. Jackson "Jack" Rourke is in bad standing with a mysterious crime organization. He becomes a marked man and must flee for his survival. The consequence of his situation leaves him owing large sums of money, which he cannot pay on his own. He is directed to a massive illegal street racing event called "The Run" by an associate, Sam Harper. The Run is a 3000 mile journey across the continental United States, starting in San Francisco and ending in New York City. The prize money, $25,000,000, is enough to secure his freedom from the organisation but he will have to beat over 200 other drivers to the finish line to win. Complicating things, both the police and the criminal organization he is in debt to both want to make sure that he never finishes the race.
