A very interesting Saturday with Doc Kupka, Tower of Power's Bari player.

The day started by picking Doc up at the Oakland Airport; driving to the Cal v Washington State football game where the Cal Marching Band showcased Doc's newly written tune during half-time -- co-written and scored by Hollywood heavyweight Bill Ross; then drove to Cache Creek Casino Resort, in time for soundcheck with Tower of Power; then unexpectedly, sat in on TOP's show, playing my Bass Sax during the band's encore set. The show was sold out and was my second time sitting in with the band.

Thanks to Jack Hylen, TOP's road manager, for smoothing out my drop-in; and Merrill Lynch's Sacramento-native, Jason Ezzell, for arranging a last minute room at the sold out hotel, not to mention comp tix for Randy & Terry Biagi.
